What is covered and not covered?
The insurance company will generally pay for new medical conditions, injuries or accidents that may occur after the effective date of the policy. It does not cover any expenses related preventive check ups, immunizations or maternity. Pre-exisiting conditions are only covered after 12 months to a maximum of $500.
For visits to a U.S. Urgent Care there is a $50 copay and your deductible is waived. Also included is coverage for visits to a Walk-In Clinic, here you have a $20 copay and a waived deductible. If you choose a $0 deductible then there is no copay for visits to an Urgent Care or Walk-in Clinic. Prescription drugs are covered like any other eligible medical expenses. More information.
Dental is covered only up to $350 for sudden and unexpected pain to sound and natural teeth and $500 for an accident related emergency. For any practical dental coverage, consider a low cost plan from Careington that provides excellent coverage.

How do I use the insurance?
Please look at the detailed description.
How much is covered?
First, you will have to pay your chosen deductible (choices range from $0 to $500) per incident before the insurance company starts paying anything for the covered expenses, even for doctor visits. You will need to continue to pay all the money yourself until you have completely satisfied the deductible. The deductible is not just for the hospitalization.
After that, within the PPO network in the USA, the plan pays 90% up to $10,000, then 100% up to the policy maximum. Outside the PPO network in the USA, the plan pays 80% up to the policy maximum. Outside the USA, the plan pays 100% up to the policy maximum.
The policy maximum for this plan ranges from $50,000 to $500,000.
Example:
Let's assume that you have purchased a $50,000 policy maximum with a $100 deductible for 3 months and you are inside the USA within the PPO network.
Let's assume that the doctor charges you $150/visit and you to need visit several times.
The first time you visit the doctor, you will have to first pay $100 and the insurance company starts paying at 90% for the remaining $50; meaning they will pay $45 and you pay $5.
For any subsequent treatment for the same condition, you don't have to pay the deductible again. The insurance company will pay 90% up to $10,000, then 100% for covered medical expenses, up to $50,000. If you incur any expenses beyond $50,000, you will be responsible to pay that amount.
Let's assume that you were in an accident and are hospitalized for 2 days. The hospital charges $12,000 per day for a total bill of $24,000. Assuming this is the first instance of your needing to use the insurance, you pay your $100 deductible plus $1,000 (10% of the first $10,000) and the insurance company will pay the rest.
